Who Said It? The brother of Jared
Where? in the valley of Nimrod
When? after the tower of Babel
What? The Lord promised the Jaredites that their language would not be confounded and that they would be directed to a land of promise.
How? They were directed to build barges and cross the ocean to the American continent.
Why? Because they asked the Lord for help and followed through with faith and obedience.

". . . Hagoth, he being an exceedingly curious man, therefore he went forth and built him an exceedingly large ship . . . and launched it forth into the west sea . . . And behold, there were many of the Nephites who did enter therein and did sail forth with much provisions, and also many women and children . . . And it came to pass that they were never heard of more."

Who? Hagoth
Where? "on the borders of the land Bountiful, by the land Desolation"
When? About 57 B.C.
Why? That is one of the unanswered questions surrounding this incident.

Who Said It? Isaiah
Where? Taken from records preserved by Lehi's descendants
When? The time of Isaiah (Old Testament prophet)
What? Isaiah prophecies the gathering of Israel, the casting out of Lucifer, and the triumph of Israel.
How? The Millennium has been foreseen and foretold and will happen.
Why? Because the Lord knows the end from the beginning and wants us to be prepared.

3 Nephi 9:20 "And ye shall offer for a sacrifice unto me a broken heart and a contrite spirit. And whoso cometh unto me with a broken heart and a contrite spirit, him will I baptize with fire and with the Holy Ghost . . ."

Who Said It? Jesus Christ
Where? "In the darkness" on the American Continent
When? After the destruction that resulted from Jesus' death
What? ". . the voice of Christ . . . invites men (and women) to come unto him and be saved."
How? Approach Christ "with a broken heart and a contrite spirit."
Why? Because "a broken heart and a contrite spirit" prepares one to be baptized, to receive the gift of the Holy Ghost, and to walk the path of peace and joy.

Who Said It? "Ammon and his brethren"
Where? ". . . in the land of Jershon" (vs 8)
When? about 76 B.C.
What? amidst "slaughter" and "mourning" (vs 3-4), "incomprehensible joy" (vs 8) can happen
How? "many thousands mourn the loss of their kindred, yet they . . exult in the hope . . (vs 12)
Why? Because as we experience good and evil, we may use our agency to choose joy.

Who Said It? Jarom (son of Enos)
Where? America, the Promised Land
When? 420-399 B.C.
What? The conditions for prosperity are repeated.
How? By way of "our fathers," who were instructed to "keep my commandments"
Why? Because this is the pattern the Lord has outlined and verified for our growth, peace and safety.
