The Lord Works Many Ways

Alma 24:27 ". . thus we see that the Lord worketh in many ways to the salvation of his people."

The Lord knows his children and how to nurture each one.

Preach the Word

Alma 23:3 ". . preach the word . . that they ought not to murder . . steal . . commit adultery, nor to commit any manner of wickedness." 

Some things never change.

What Shall I Do?

Alma 22:15-16 ". . What shall I do that I may have this eternal life?

. repent of all thy sins .  call on his name in faith . believing that ye shall receive,"

Keeping the Commandments of God

Alma 21:23 ". . and they were zealous for keeping the commandments of God."

It's one thing to keep God's commandments and another to do it with enthusiasm.

God Told Me

Alma 20:5 "No one hath told me, save it be God;"

Sometimes God gives us unmistakable promptings and shows us the way.

The Lord's Arm is Extended

Alma 19:36 ". . (the Lord's) arm is extended to all people who will repent and believe on his name."

When we turn our hearts to the Lord, he can immediately help us!

Is There a God?

Alma 18:24 "Believest thou that there is a God?"

So much of life depends upon the answer to this question that comes to the heart of every person.

A Portion of His Spirit

Alma 17:9 ". . they fasted much and prayed much that the Lord would grant unto them a portion of his Spirit to go with them . ."

The Lord's help is available as we reach for it.

Impart the Word of God

Alma 16:14 "And as many as would hear their words, unto them they did impart the word of God . ."

Wishing we could "impart the word of God" isn't enough.

Take Courage

Alma 15:4 ". . when (Zeezrom) heard that Alma and Amulek were in the land of Sidom, his heart began to take courage;"

The Lord's servants can help when we let them.

When Our Work is Finished

Alma 14:13 "Be it according to the will of the Lord. But behold, our work is not finished:"

Lord, please help me learn and know "my work" and how to finish it.

The Scriptures Are Before You

Alma 13:20 "Behold, the scriptures are before you; if ye will wrest them it shall be to your own destruction."

Wrest means to pull away from, jerk, or force by twisting.

God Knows Our Thoughts

Alma 12:3 "Now Zeezrom . . thou hast not lied unto men only but thou hast lied unto God; for behold, he knows all thy thoughts,"

God knows the truth.

That He Might Destroy

Alma 11:21 ". . Now Zeezrom was a man who was expert in the devices of the devil, that he might destroy that which was good;"

Learn to identify and avoid the devil's followers.

In Favor of Your Law

Alma 10:26 ". . ye say that I have spoken against your law; . . but I have spoken in favor of your law, to your condemnation."

The US Constitution trumps politics.

Have Ye Forgotten?

Alma 9:10 ". . have ye forgotten so soon how many times he delivered our fathers out of the hands of their enemies, and preserved them?"

Fast forward to USA, 2014.

Turn Again and Prophesy

Alma 8:25 ". . I have been commanded that I should turn again and prophesy unto this people , ."

The Lord's way is to persevere in loving his children.

The Peace of God

Alma 7:27 " . . may the peace of God rest upon you . . according to your faith and good works . ."

Peace in this life and in the life hereafter is attainable.

Pride Brings Rejection

"Alma 6:3 " . . those who were lifted up in the pride of their hearts--the same were rejected,"

Ultimately, pride hurts everyone, especially those who own it.

Of What Fold Are Ye?

Alma 5:39 "And now if ye are not the sheep of the good shepherd (Jesus Christ), of what fold are ye?"

We can't have it both ways.

One Piece of Iniquity to Another

Alma 4:11 ". . the example of the church began to lead those who were unbelievers on from one piece of iniquity to another . ."

May it not be so now.

Consequences Follow Choices

Alma 3:19 " . . even so doth every man that is cursed bring upon himself his own condemnation."

We are free to choose, but not free to choose consequences.

Wicked Men Deprive Others

Alma 2:4 "he (Amlici), being a wicked man, would deprive (the people) of their rights and privileges . . "

It seems that wicked men are ever present weaving their iniquity.

Obliged to Abide by Laws

Alma 1:1 " . . he (Alma) had established laws . . , (that were) acknowledged by the people . . (who) were obliged to abide by the laws . ."

Laws work only when obeyed.

One Wicked King Causes Destruction

Mosiah 29:17 ". . how much iniquity doth one wicked king cause to be committed . . and what great destruction!"

One wicked president causes "great destruction," too.

All People Should Know

Mosiah 28:19 " . . it is expedient that all people should know the things which are written in this account."

The Book of Mormon is an important testimony of Jesus Christ.

The Marvelous Light of God

Mosiah 27:29 " . . I was in the darkest abyss; but now I behold the marvelous light of God . . and my soul is pained no more."

The light of God extinguishes pain and darkness.
