3 Nephi 11:29 ". . he that hath the spirit of contention is not of me, but is of the devil,"

Contention destroys.

Repent and Return to God

3 Nephi 10:6 ". . how oft will I gather you as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, if ye will repent and return unto me with full purpose of heart."

It's not too late to come to Christ and be healed.

Alpha and Omega

3 Nephi 9:18 "I am the light and the life of the world. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end."

From start to finish, there is only one Jesus Christ to recover and redeem you and me.

The Day Christ was Crucified

3 Nephi 8:12 ". . the whole face of the land was changed because of . . the exceedingly great quaking of the whole earth;"

The very earth heaved when Jesus Christ, its Creator, was slain.

Angels Ministered to Him Daily

3 Nephi 7:18 ". . for so great was his faith on the Lord Jesus Christ that angels did minister unto him daily."

Sometimes angels help us, and we might notice their calling card afterward.

Prospering Continually

3 Nephi 6:5 "And now there was nothing in all the land to hinder the people from prospering continually, except they should fall into transgression."

Conversion + obedience = prosperity

I Am a Disciple of Jesus Christ

3 Nephi 5:13 "Behold, I am a disciple of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. I have been called of him to declare his word among his people, that they might have everlasting life."

Me too.

Cowards Plunder, Rob and Murder

3 Nephi 4:5 ". . there was no way that (the Gadianton robbers) could subsist save it were to plunder and rob and murder."

In Their Time of Need

3 Nephi 3:25 ". . they did repent of all their sins; and they did put up their prayers unto the Lord their God, that he would deliver them . . "

Repentance and prayer come easier in times of crisis. Why?

The Sword of Destruction

3 Nephi 2:19 ". . the sword of destruction did hang over them, insomuch that they were about to be smitten down by it, and this because of their iniquity."

Sin can overtake and destroy us.

Pay Attention to Prophets

3 Nephi 1:13 ". . I will fulfil all that which I have caused to be spoken by the mouth of my holy prophets."

Prophets know what's coming and how to prepare. Just listen to them!

The Hardening of Hearts

Helaman 16:22 ". . Satan did stir them up to do iniquity continually . . that he might harden the hearts of the people against that which was good . ."

Satan's lies continue, but he will lose in the end.

Because He Loves Us

Helaman 15:3 ". . in the days of their iniquities hath he chastened them because he loveth them."

It's for our own good . . . where have we heard that before?

Ye Are Free

Helaman 14:30 ". . whosoever doeth iniquity, doeth is unto himself; for behold, ye are free; ye are permitted to act for yourselves . ."

With freedom comes responsibility and consequences.

Foolish and Blind Guides

Helaman 13:29 ". . how long will ye suffer yourselves to be led by foolish and blind guides? Yea, how long will ye choose darkness rather than light?"

Jesus Christ is the light.

The Lord's Infinite Goodness

Helaman 12:1 ". . the Lord in his great infinite goodness doth bless and prosper those who put their trust in him."

Trust in the Lord because it works!

They Began to Remember God

Helaman 11:7 ". . the people saw that they were about to perish . . and they began to remember the Lord their God;"

Why do we wait for problems before remembering God?

Seek to Keep the Commandments

Helaman 10:4 "And thou . . hast not sought thine own life, but hast sought my will, and to keep my commandments."

Our priorities show.

How Long?

Helaman 9:21 ". . do ye know how long the Lord your God will suffer you that ye shall go on in this your way of sin?"

God is in control.

Having a Contrite Spirit

Helaman 8:15 ". . as many as should look upon the Son of God with faith, having a contrite spirit, might live, even unto that life which is eternal."

Have the faith to act.

The Voice of the Good Shepherd

Helaman 7:17-18 "Why has (God) forsaken you? It is because you have hardened your hearts; yea, ye will not hearken unto the voice of the good shepherd;"

Listen to Jesus. He wants to help us!

The Author of Sin

Helaman 6:30 "And behold, it is (Satan) who is the author of all sin . . from generation to generation according as he can get hold upon the hearts of the children of men."

The author of sin still rages to destroy.

No Other Way Nor Means

Helaman 5:9 ". . remember, remember . . that there is no other way nor means whereby man can be saved, only through the atoning blood of Jesus Christ . ."

Only one way fits all.

Boasting in Their Own Strength

Helaman 4:13 "And because of this their great wickedness, and their boastings in their own strength, they were left in their own strength; therefore they did not prosper,"

Nothing brings us down faster than pride.

Open the Gate of Heaven

Helaman 3:28 ". . the gate of heaven is open unto all, even to those who will believe on the name of Jesus Christ, who is the Son of God."

Heaven is available to everyone.

How will our posterity know us if records are not kept and transferred?

Are You Hard or Soft?

Alma 62:41 ". . many had become hardened, because of the . . length of the war; and many were softened because of their afflictions,"

Trials are universal. Our choice is to harden or soften our hearts as a result of them.

My Soul Standeth Fast

Alma 61:9 "My soul standeth fast in that liberty in the which God hath made us free."
